La Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas estableci\u00f3 el D\u00eda Mundial del Medio Ambiente en 1972, para marcar la apertura de la Conferencia de Estocolmo sobre Medio Ambiente Humano, la misma que llev\u00f3 al establecimiento del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA).
